Invaluable help from Teignmouth Community School Work Experience Placement Stan Morris.
It was an absolute pleasure to have Work Experience placement Stan Morris helping out in the gallery this week. He was brilliant and quite invaluable in the curation and hanging of the new exhibition 'FirstSight' by Rachael Bennett. To be perfectly honest aside from an initial briefing about how to prep walls and hang paintings I contributed very little and Stan just cracked on with it, I dont think we have had a work placement who was able to work so intelligently and efficiently with almost complete independence.
I asked Stan to write a short contribution to the blog at the beginning of the week and in his own words:
‘At words and pictures this week so far, we have put up a short term exhibition before Rachel’s Bennets big show starting on Friday the 24th June. Although only up for a few days, this exhibition is very aesthetically pleasing and stars one of my favourite pieces of work in the gallery, Paul warner’s “cape Cornwall Mine No7”. It’s a wood etching print which therefore gives I a really nice high contrast effect on the paper, I really like how detailed he has made it even though it’s a tiny scale to work on.’
