Exhibition by Caroline Wightman 25th March - 7th April
Words & Pictures Gallery is thrilled to host a solo show by painter Caroline Wightman from 25th March to 7th April. Caroline is one of our best selling artists and we have been privileged to have a range of her smaller paintings over the last year. These new pieces have been produced specifically for the show and are on a much larger scale.
Caroline works in a range of materials including acrylic and oil to produce emotive paintings exploring weather as much as landscape. Her paintings are dramatic compositions evenly balancing content and process. They are lonely and familiar and have something of the cinematic about them -everyone has experienced the thrill of being in the middle of a storm and wanted to share the feeling of 'presence'. She is a 'painters - painter' with lusty mark-making and layered, totally engaging compositions. If you know about painting you will relish the use of materials and if your not a painter you'll want to be once you see them.
The private view is from 6.30pm on Friday 24th March, please feel free to pop in and talk to Caroline. I can't imagine these paintings will be unsold for very long.
