One of the a very few mixed media artworks still available by Jane Perkins. This piece was recently featured in the 'Fabulous Beasts' exhibition at Powderham Castle in Devon.
'Fallow' was a bespoke commission for the exhibition at Powderham and was inspired by the many deer that roam in the grounds of the castle.
The construction follows Perkins disciplined use of found and used components carfully composed with painstaking skill and ingenuity. Perkins work sits on the cusp of sculpture and painting, the colour and determination of tone and line are just as important as the physical objects that make the composition. Each component tells a story and reflects a time and the grouping of objects in turn has an alchemy and abstract beauty. These then go to make up the very clever imagery that is always driven by more than just reflecting a 'picture'.
There is never more than one or two of these original pieces available at any one time and Perkins work saturates the internet and exists in private collections all over the world.
