Devon Open Studios in full flow, Amy McCarthy is working away in the back room gallery on a series of commissions but loads of ready made pieces ready and waiting for new homes. A new series of black heroins and work that's driven by 'random strategy' cards. They use the language of leaded stained glass but the subject matter is so much broader, socially engaging and politically motivated. Come and see it and get a taste of artwork that is driven by something more than just making a pretty picture or a landscape copied from a photograph.
Its September so it must be time for Devon Open Studios. Words & Pictures Gallery is very happy to have Amy McCarthy using the back room gallery as her temporary studio space. Amy is working on a number of commissioned pieces so will be actually demonstrating a range of techniques and processes which she is always happy to explain to visitors. Of course there will also be a number of ready made pieces of glass work available to buy and I know she has been working flat out to produce enough for Devon Open Studios.
