Caroline Wightman has lived in Teignmouth with her young family for the past 10 years. She has worked as an art teacher for 20 years in various schools and manages to exhibit locally in Teignmouth, Totnes and Ashburton with growing success and a loyal following.
Wightman is a contemporary artist who works in acrylic and oils to produce emotive paintings exploring weather as much as landscape. Her paintings are dramatic compositions evenly balancing content and process. They are lonely and familiar and have something of the cinematic about them - everyone has experience the thrill of being in the middle of a storm and wanted to share the feeling of 'presence'. She is a 'painters - painter' with lusty mark-making and totally engaging compositions.
