Ann–Mari Hopkin

Ann-Mari was born in Gotland, a Sweedish island in the Baltic sea.. she moved to London when she was 18 and attended the Sir John Cass college to study ceramics. She has lived in the West Country since 1993.

Most of her glazes are made up from her own recipes, many of which centre around a distinctive turquoise that sits so well with the terracotta. Ann -Mari uses the red earthenware clay so distinctive to the landscape in this part of the country. Her subject matter is also concerned with the world around her - animals, partial landscapes and some of the local history and folk-law. She is a full time ceramicist working in her studio in Paignton.
